The Fog's where out in full force today. Welcome back to Duane, Dorrie, John and Papa Roach! Great conditions for mostly man made snow, with a little fresh on top. It felt sooo good to cruise the bowl down to lower sundancer. Parking is now available down by Eagle and we can say goodbye to Moonbeam for a while. More vertical, more friends and more fun...

A hard day on Moonbeam deserves some R&R&D, and that is just what John and George know how to do. Rumor has it Apex on Thursday and maybe Eagle on Friday. I don't know about Eagle, but Apex looks ready, all we can do is wait.

Field Trip to the Canyons

Field trip day for some of the fogs today. Off to the the Canyons thanks to John and Cindy, we love you man... We had a great time and we where honored to be your guest. Sun, fun, just a small about of drinking and a whole lot of good friends, what a way to go.

Another Blue Bird Day

Another great day at Solitude. Lot's of snow has piled up over the last 12 days. Today's stats are mid mountain 60" base with 159" total snowfall so far this season. Everything is open with the exception of Sol/Bright cut over. A few rocks here and there back in Honeycomb but the feeling is there. With a few more storms and a few less people (yes, it's been busy over the holidays) over the next few weeks, we are in business. We are also pleased to see Bill back on the mountain, welcome back FOG.

Sunday Tailgate

Sunday tailgate with a great selection of hot dogs and chicken wings (your choice of sweet or spicy no less). We are just loving the great weather and there seems to be a break in the storms for now. Soft snow, good coverage and fun for all. Crazy Sunday with the parking lot completely full, lots of people and cars parking out on the canyon road (parking tickets where to be had for all of those lucky people).

Snow Storm Alert

So the day starts out at 9:oo am with sunny sky's and a forecast of a possible small about of snow today. 9:45 or so, pow! We get a hour long storm that brings us about 2", oh what a joy it was. Light and fluffy, not 2 feet, but cold and something new to ski on. We did make some fun little tracks that put a smile on all of our faces.

The Beach Boys

After about 12 runs (the quads are awesome) and a couple of hours, the boys decide to take a well deserved break and have some more fun. We start our morning with our Bloody Mary's, ski some and then make a party of it. Oh, you know, life is good...

First Big Snow of the 08 - 09 Season!

Look at what happened overnight, 22" (mid mountain) just like that! In celebration a few us had our little party on the Moonbeam deck today. It made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck in anticipation, opening day is just around the corner. This is how things looked just 7 days ago:

One Week Left!

Only one week left until the LDS party and this was our last Sunday tailgate as well. You can see Paco doing his curry beef taco here along with some of the gang. Pretty nice day for the April 6th, a little dust on crust but the crust was not bad. Forecast for the week is more snow. That's a nice shirt you have there Uncle George...

Easter Sunday with the Bunny

So there we are making our first lap at 9:00 am and who do we run into? The Easter Bunny. I can't think about a nicer way to spend Easter Sunday then skiing with friends, meeting this cute bunny and enjoying a bluebird day. Great spring conditions this morning and the rest of the day.

Sunday Tailgate - St Patricks Day

How do you describe another day in paradise? 4" of new powder to bottomless powder back in honeycomb. Lots of green today in honor of St Patrick, a great tailgate with thanks to John E for a contribution of corn beef (Ruben sandwiches) and with a little help from his friends, goodies of drink and merriment. We even had spots of sunshine, who else could be so lucky? Let the green flow...

Fat Tuesday

Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") is the day before Ash Wednesday, and is also called "Shrove Tuesday" or "Pancake Day". Mardi Gras is the final day of Carnival the three day period preceding the beginning of Lent, the Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday immediately before Ash Wenesday. The entire three day period has now come to be known in many areas as Mardi Gras, so as it is elsewhere, it is also here with the Fog at Solitude. Beautiful day, lots of snow, and a sunny day just for us.

Welcome Back Mr Sun

We saw the first day of sun today that I can remember for quite sometime, welcome back. After the holiday it was nice to see sun, no people and the beach just the way we remembered it. Honeycomb was still in good shape and many of us made our laps back there today looking for more powder from Sunday. We can be such SL,UT powder hounds!

... And the Snow Continues!

Storm after storm, it just keeps coming. Now, none of us our complaining mind you... Today resort stats: base 89", season total 227". Next few days should see some clearing and sun, but as you know with Solitude, there will still be places of powder to find until the next storm. Another glorious day for all of us. Here is what the SL Trib had to say today: "Weeks of pounding snowstorms have helped quench a thirsty Utah, which may offset last summer's depletion of water in record-setting temperatures. Winter storms have brought the state's total snowpack to 115 percent of average, which is unusual because drier conditions had been expected for winter, according to the National Weather Service. The region is currently in a La Niña year, meaning that waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean are cooler. That typically translates to drier conditions across the southwest - and in Southern Utah. To the north, however, the state typically sees above average snowpacks. "It's definitely made improvements," National Weather Service Meteorologist Monica Traphagan said of the recent snowfall. "December was the fourth wettest [on record]. That's going to help the snowpack. We are in much better shape than we were in last year."

Awesome Powder Day!

So we start the day with Big Cottonwood canyon closed due to a couple of slides. Stinky in his Audi and the Morton Salt guy in his Brat are waiting in line. Ron and Travis are waiting in the lot, John is at home just waiting for a call to let him know the canyon is open. At 10:10 am it happens and we are a go. 3 hours later, smiling and grinning from ear to ear after riding in 15 - 20 inches of untracked fresh powder we are back to the lot to tailgate and discuss our days adventures. Awesome stuff, we all look forward to tomorrow to do it all over again.

Two More Days of Powder

Another great powder day at Solitude. When we arrived this morning, there was a few inches of powder and snowing lightly, by 10:00am is was snowing in full force. Mid mountain report was 11". I know up on Summit there was at least 18" to play in. As of today, Solitude reports: 72" base with a season total of 172". Let it rock in Jan and Feb...

All Smiles Today at Solitude

All smiles today at the beach. It' been a great last 4 days. Snow on Friday and then a "yard", some call it 36" on Sat with a follow-up few inches after that. All lift's are open with the exception of Honeycomb which is rumored to be the next few days (there is plenty of powder back there). More snow is in the forecast towards the end of the week. Life's a beach for these two FOGS, but someone has to do it.
