Tomorrow, 1/7/10 will mark Karl's and Mary's 12th Anniversary, in tradition they will be celebrating at the top of Powerhorn II at the Honeycomb gate at 3:00 pm - 4:oo pm with champagne and fun, you are invited!! Come and join them...

Fog Potluck Christmas 09

It's that time again, the Fog Potluck Christmas at the Wall's house. Please come and visit us at Karl's and Mary's on December 20th (Sunday). See Mary's famous Christmas Ski village, have some fine food and drink. Time: 3:00 to 8:00 pm (or later). Pork tenderloin will be served so bring your side dish and some drinks to bring in the Holidays - Fog style!

Bloody Cold Day!

We gather for some hot spiced cider on the beach at the usual 10:30am break. High today: 6, low -22 with wind chill, temp right now: "bloody cold" as Karl says! Video clip from today is here. Oh ya, the black night make an appearance (guess who)

Just when you think the powder days are gone!

So, Wednesday - The worst flat light day I can remember, groomers are rutty and gouged, everything else, just hard a rock, almost everyone goes home early, some come but don't even ski. Thursday - 4" of dust on crust, a pleasant day from the day before, the 4" seemed to take care of the groomers, softer and better light, snowing wet snow, it's odd how so little can make you so happy. Friday - bang, 12" of powder, face shots, every run just seems to be giving more and more. The sun was out for the very first run of the day. Everyone smiling and having one good old time. You can hear laughter all over the mountain, snow is coming down fast and piling up. Just look at this Aussie, can you say happy!

Fat Tuesday

Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") is the day before Ash Wednesday, and is also called "Shrove Tuesday" or "Pancake Day". Mardi Gras is the final day of Carnival the three day period preceding the beginning of Lent, the Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday immediately before Ash Wenesday. The entire three day period has now come to be known in many areas as Mardi Gras, so as it is elsewhere, it is also here with the Fog at Solitude. Beautiful day, lots of snow, and a sunny day just for us.

20 Years since I left Oz Party, Nov 29th

G'day all,

Its coming up on 20 years since I first left Australia for Kitzbuhel, Austria (via Singapore and Belgrade), little did I know what was in store for me back in 1987.

We are having a huge party exactly 20 years to the minute that I boarded flight 581 to Singapore, 4:20pm, on Nov. 29th 2007.

Please spread the word, Mary and I hope to see you all on the 29th. We have plenty of Beer, Wine, Mary's Famous Sausage Rolls and assorted munchies. We will start partying at 4:20pm, and continue until very late(unless it will be a powder day on the 30th).

First snow of the 07 - 08 season falls!

Karl's prediction was correct, we received our first snow of the season last night. This picture came from Sugarhouse park by my house looking up at the Wasatch Mountains. Nice surprise for being into the first few days of fall.

Fall Lunch Pesto Pasta Spectacular

Another fine luncheon for the fogs today on top of the Moonbeam center. John made up some great pesto pasta made from Bill's garden (picked fresh yesterday) and cooked it on the spot. Ron rounded it out with some Italian sausages and we also had the usual snacks. It just dosen't get any better, blue skys, cool air and great company. We chated about the first snow, Karl predicted the 23rd, we'll keep our fingers crossed.

St. Patricks Day

We don't need a reason to party, but we do need a reason to be green and what better day then St. Patty's! We had quite a feast in honor of ole St Patrick. Beads, hats, buttons and all the usual trimmings of a green day flare. I'm not sure how George got that green around his mouth, but I'm sure he'll tell you if you ask him.
